My Lights Keep Dimming

My lights keep dimming every time I turn on an appliance. The heat in my house is not the greatest so I bought two small electric fireplaces to supplement the existing heat. However, when I run one or both my lights seem to be significantly dimmer. If I need to run the washing machine at the same time, the power is cut to certain rooms all together. I need electrical advice. I have an old fuse box and if I remove a fuse and simply put it back in, the power comes back on. Do I need to change the fuse box completely?
