Types of Mindfulness Meditation and Their Techniques
December 2, 2009 on 2:31 pm | By admin | In Health | Comments OffFormal and informal are two types of mindfulness meditation. An example of formal mindfulness meditation would be yoga. A person practicing yoga would focuses on their breathing and posture. They move slowly from one position to the next and as they do so they are aware of each movement. Through practice they learn to push distracting thoughts out of their minds. An example of informal mindfulness meditation, is looking at everyday situations. In looking at them, one would only be observing what happened but without putting any thought into it. Using mindfulness meditation, one just looks at what is going on right now. During this type of meditation, one does not dwell on what happened in the past nor do they think of the future. The whole idea of mindfulness meditation is to keep focused on what is happening in ones body, as one goes through different emotions.
